NÉ IL GIORNO NÉ L'ORA - FILIPPO SORCINELLI

I hope you become an obsession,

because you help life.

You block the false reality,

acting in the shadows,

erase the limits.

The twelfth fragrance in the monolithic UNUM collection is designed to confront the most intense emotion: fear. Almost as tradition dictates, it is inspired by an excerpt from the Gospel according to Matthew, the parable of the ten virgins. This story—which also gives the perfume its name—tells of ten women who prudently save oil to light their lamps while waiting for the bridegroom to arrive. It is known that out of the ten, only five—described as very wise—take part in the wedding; the others, who went to get oil for their lamps, find the door closed. "Lord, open to us," they say upon arriving, receiving the following reply: "Truly, I say to you, I do not know you." It is also known that while waiting for the bridegroom, they too fell asleep, but were ready to wake up and rejoice: "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour," as it is written in Matthew.
And this is just the beginning. The idea is to go beyond the evangelization of these words and confront our fears on a deeper, more intense level, evoking conflicting emotions and feeling the seductive charm of danger – an "amor fati" as Nietzsche said – or at least, the presence of things beyond our control. This is a characteristic trait of horror literature (and more); it is the power of the uncontrollable over us. Yet, the existence of fear always requires something else: not the lack of courage, but the presence of what we desire most. What remains the highest aspiration of most men is also a harbinger of trouble: freedom.
The fragrance conveys the idea of destruction, the choice of silence, and the necessary introspection to dive deep into the most distant existence of the skin.
Yet, trying to control it arouses an attraction, even a pleasure, towards this much sought-after and desired fear.

Man is caught in a horrible fate, and our society, with the violent approval of the crowd, tries to dull itself and deny the truth, or rather the Being-toward-death.
It is only in this way that man becomes "I" in his darkest and unexpressed shadow, revealing his true nature made of contradictions and desires. Faced with fear, seemingly chaotic primal needs, composed of a latent, hidden, and dangerous eroticism, awaken, making the impossible possible.

The packaging follows the style of the UNUM collection; this time it is sealed with a cold transparent film and a silver label. The bottle (also silver) is placed in a "silent" black velvet pouch, sealed in a shrink wrap that must be cut manually using the metal scissors provided in the box.

After his religious fall in the kingdom of dust, faced with life on a fragile planet and having lost all his bearings, man is inextricably linked to fear, forced to wander in the dark side of the soul. In this room, he perceives a faint light revealing deformed limbs sharing monstrous things that seek to destroy respectability and take pleasure in suffocating souls, no longer relying on life's accounts, but on a form of salvation that is ever more distant.
